Underground Crafter

Needlecrafts, handmade creativity, and other good stuff

Wow, I have been pretty negligent in updating my craft goals!  In my defense, I did have to take almost two weeks off from the blog because of various life stuff (mostly work).  I don’t actually have all that much to report as a result, but here goes…

Personal crafting goals

1. Work my way through Crochet Master Class: Lessons and Projects from Today’s Top Crocheters.  Instead of using the patterns, I’d like to create my own project (for myself and/or for teaching) for each technique/skill in the book.

I’m still working on my Irish rose project.  I’m planning to make a choker – although I don’t really wear jewelry, I thought it would be something nice I can wear when I’m teaching crochet or when I go to a needlecrafts event.

2. Make something handmade for my mom and sister for the holidays (or their birthdays).  Possible sources of inspiration include Toe-Up 2-at-a-Time Socksor something from my growing collection of vintage crochet books.

Argh.  I picked back up the New Orleans Saints blanket for my sister.  It wasn’t ready for her birthday, or for Christmas, and it won’t be ready in time for SuperBowl Sunday.  But, when it is finished, I’m going to consider this goal accomplished!

My progress so far. Gray areas are finished.

5. Limit new yarn purchases, increase the ratio of natural to synthetic fibers in my stash, and continue to destash any yarn or notions that I won’t be using in the near future.

I kept to my budget at Vogue Knitting Live, and didn’t bring any new yarn home.

Professional crafting goals

3. Publish at least five patterns.

I actually have several self-published patterns in the pipeline.  I also finished up and mailed off a secret project that should be published in 2012 while I was away from the blog.

4. Blog at least twice a week.

And, speaking of away from the blog… I did skip 9 days straight of blogging :( .  It was the longest break I’ve had since I started blogging, but it couldn’t be avoided since I was literally working day and night.  I returned to the blog on Sunday, and have been posting every day since.

5. Teach in at least two conferences/festivals.

I’ve mentioned before that I’ll be teaching at All Things Fiber Camp in May.  Two weeks ago, they highlighted one of the classes I’ll be teaching on their blog.

How are your craft goals progressing?
