Pocket Shawl Crochet Pattern: Puff Stitch Pocket Shawl

I’m sharing the Puff Stitch Pocket Shawl pattern. This pocket shawl crochet pattern was originally designed in three parts for AllFreeCrochet’s February, 2021 crochet along.

When AllFreeCrochet asked me to design a pocket shawl crochet pattern for their mystery crochet along, I knew I wanted to add a belt to the final project. I love shawls with belts because there are so many more options for styling.

I used Lion Brand Jeans yarn for my version because it has a really nice drape and the denim-y colors go well with a lot of different clothes.

  • Thread yarn needle with long yarn tail from end of first Pocket. Position Pocket in center of first double crochet section (between stitch markers 1 and 2) on right side. Use pins or additional locking stitch markers to pin Pocket into position. With long yarn tail, sew Pocket to shawl around 3 sides (the sides of the rows and the foundation chain), leaving the final row edge unseamed. Repeat for second Pocket, positioning between stitch marker 7 and Final Row.
  • With yarn needle, weave in yarn tails.
  • Spray block if necessary.
  • To wear the shawl with the Belt, drape the shawl around your neck with the Pockets facing the front. Make sure the short ends are even. Tie the Belt around your waist or at your preferred location to keep the shawl in position.
